Our CSR Policy's Environmental Commitment
By choosing to stay at the Habitation Caféière Samana Beauséjour, our guests actively participate in this ecological approach. We are proud to offer accommodation that combines comfort, luxury and respect for the environment, while being the only establishment in Guadeloupe to be awarded both the ClefVerte and Esprit Parc National labels.

AIR-CONDITIONING OF ROOMS:
As part of our commitment to the environment, we have installed an air conditioning system controlled by artificial intelligence (AI). This technological choice allows us to optimise energy use while guaranteeing the comfort of our guests.
Why is the air conditioning controlled by AI?

Optimising energy efficiency: AI enables the air conditioning to be regulated intelligently and adapted to actual conditions. By limiting air conditioning operation to night-time hours, from 7.30pm to 7.30am, we can significantly reduce energy consumption. This is the period when air conditioning is most needed to ensure comfortable nights, while avoiding excessive use during the day.

Reduced environmental impact: By limiting the use of air conditioning, we are reducing our carbon footprint. Electricity production, even from renewable sources, has an environmental impact. By optimising the use of air conditioning, we are helping to conserve natural resources, limit our greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change.

Guest comfort and well-being: Night-time air conditioning ensures an optimal sleeping environment for our guests. AI automatically adjusts the temperature and humidity parameters to ensure maximum comfort, while avoiding the energy consumption peaks that usually occur in the early evening.

Commitment to Sustainable Technology: Integrating AI into our air conditioning system is part of our vision to use advanced technologies to achieve sustainability goals. This intelligent system is a demonstration of our commitment to innovate for a greener future.
WATER MANAGEMENT:
At Habitation Caféière Samana Beauséjour, we take our responsibility to the environment very seriously. Our water management policy is a perfect illustration of our commitment to sustainability and the preservation of natural resources.
Here is an overview of our initiatives in this area:

Sanitation
We have completely overhauled our sanitation system to meet the most stringent standards and align our practices with our environmental values. The property is equipped with two mini-treatment plants that treat all waste water, resulting in recycled water that is over 96% pure. This treated water reduces our environmental impact and ensures that we meet the highest quality standards.

Drinking water
City water, stored in ACS buffer tanks, is filtered with activated carbon and treated with UV to comply with the strictest drinking water standards. To take our ecological approach a step further, we have installed an osmosis unit capable of filtering water down to 0.0001 microns (or 1 millionth of a millimetre). This advanced technology eliminates viruses, bacteria, pesticides, insecticides (including chlordecone and glyphosate), hormones, micro-plastics, heavy metals and endocrine disruptors, producing water that is 99.99% pure.
By providing this water free of charge to our customers in glass bottles, we eliminate the need for plastic water packs, helping to reduce plastic waste and our carbon footprint.

Rainwater Harvesting
Our estate uses a dual water system, combining mains water and reclaimed rainwater. The rainwater is collected in tanks, filtered to 1 micron then with activated carbon, and treated with UV. It supplies all the toilets and washing machines on the property and is also used to water the garden.
Thanks to these actions, we have managed to reduce our mains water consumption by 50%. Today, our average rainwater consumption is equivalent to that of mains water.

Recycling spa wate
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we also recycle the water used in our spas. This water is collected and treated for reuse in the property's toilets. This innovative practice allows us to optimise the use of every litre of water, reducing our overall consumption and environmental impact.
SELF-COMPUTING ENERGY thanks to our 8 kWp photovoltaic power plant:
Habitation Caféière Samana Beauséjour is proud to announce the installation of an 8kWp photovoltaic power plant. This initiative was made possible thanks to the support of our partner ADEME (Agence de l'Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l'Énergie) and marks a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.
By integrating this 8 kWp photovoltaic plant, we are reinforcing our commitment to the responsible and sustainable management of our resources.

Our approach to self-consumptio
The installation of this photovoltaic plant will enable us to produce our own electricity from renewable sources, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. With a capacity of 8kWp, our photovoltaic system is capable of covering a significant proportion of our daily energy needs, in particular for :
- Powering the laundry room and the pump for the large infinity pool.
- Running household appliances and comfort devices for our guests, such as the spas.
- Managing the lighting systems and water treatment facilities.

Environmental and economic impac
This self-consumption approach has a number of advantages for both the environment and our establishment:
- Reduced CO2 emissions: By producing our own electricity, we are significantly reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, thereby helping to combat climate change.
- Energy Savings: Self-consumption allows us to reduce our energy costs over the long term, providing greater financial stability and allowing us to invest more in other green initiatives.
- Energy independence: By generating our own electricity, we strengthen our resilience in the face of fluctuating energy prices and potential shortages.

Ongoing commitment to ADEME (Environmental and Energy Management Agency)
Our collaboration with ADEME goes beyond simply installing solar panels. ADEME is also helping us to raise our customers' awareness of water consumption during showers through the TransformAr project.

WASTE MANAGEMENT :
We have implemented a rigorous waste management system to reduce our environmental footprint.Here are the key measures in our approach:

Composting: All organic waste is composted, allowing it to be recycled naturally and producing a rich fertiliser for our exceptional garden.

Selective sorting: Sorting bins are available to our customers to separate waste by type: glass, plastic, metal, cardboard, paper, light bulbs, batteries and coffee capsules. This initiative makes waste management more efficient and facilitates recycling.
Thanks to these sorting initiatives, we have managed to significantly reduce the volume of non-recyclable waste. At present, we generate just one 50-litre bin bag of so-called 'general waste' per week.
REFORESTATION OF THE ESTATE :
As part of our CSR policy, we have also initiated a reforestation programme to restore and enrich our natural environment. We have begun replanting rare species of fruit trees and other local species.
Here are a few examples:

Rare species: Chadek, cinnamon apple, soursop, cachiment, lemon.

Common species: Coffee, cocoa, avocado, vanilla.
These plantations contribute not only to the preservation of biodiversity, but also to the local production of fruit and other natural resources.
EGG PRODUCTION :
We have also installed a henhouse to produce eggs for our breakfast. This initiative is part of our approach to local and sustainable production, reducing our dependence on external products and minimising our carbon footprint.
Our Social Commitment as part of our CSR Policy
Sponsorship of the Kourtrajmé Karaïbes School
As part of our support for artistic education, we loaned our estate for the filming of scenes from the end-of-year short film by students at the Kourtrajmé Caraïbes school.
This partnership illustrates our commitment to encouraging local talent and providing creative opportunities for young people in our region.
Through these initiatives, Habitation Caféière Samana Beauséjour is reaffirming its commitment to the development and support of youth and culture in Guadeloupe.
We are proud to contribute to these projects, which enrich our community and enhance our cultural heritage.
The Kourtrajmé Karaïbes school provides training in the creative trades of cinema, helping to nurture a new generation of talent in the Caribbean.

Official partner of Mister Royal Guadeloupe
Since 2021, we have been official partners of the Mister Royal Guadeloupe competition.
Solicited for our exceptional setting, representative of Caribbean culture and architecture, we hosted the first integration day for the candidates.
This partnership promotes masculine elegance and know-how, culminating in the gala election evening in August.
The winner then goes on to represent our archipelago in the national Mister France election.
We are convinced that these young men, thanks to enriching experiences such as these, will become exemplary ambassadors for Guadeloupe, flying the archipelago's colours high.
We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the Mister Guadeloupe Committee for their trust and ongoing collaboration.
Together, we aspire to create a positive and lasting impact on the Guadeloupean community.
Support for BTS Audiovisual students in Pointe-Noire
We had the pleasure of supporting the students of the BTS Audiovisuel de Pointe-Noire, class of 2022, by offering them our estate as a film location for their end-of-studies short film entitled "La Maison d'Hôtes".
n search of a site emblematic of Caribbean culture, the students were able to shoot most of the scenes needed to create their film over three days
This project, on the theme of illegal immigration in the West Indies, proved particularly relevant as the protagonists of their film are taken in by the owner of a guest house. The three days were rich in exchanges, and we are delighted to have contributed to this wonderful educational and cultural project.
We continue to support the students by lending them furniture for their practical work and exams.
