Tucked away in the heart of the Caféière Beauséjour, a coffee plantation documented since 1763, La Guestroom is a charming, intimate 20 m² guesthouse with a 15 m² private terrace. Its teak furniture sourced from sustainably managed forests, its solid angelica wood flooring and its Scandinavian touches create the atmosphere of a discreet retreat with a Caribbean flair. Sea views through the louvred windows, garden views from the terrace: a real change of scenery in Pointe-Noire, on Basse-Terre.

WHO IS GERTY ARCHIMÈDE ? - Heritage and History of Guadeloupe
Gerty Archimède was the first woman to be called to the bar of Guadeloupe in 1939, thus becoming the first woman lawyer in the French West Indies. In 1948, she joined the French Communist Party, which appointed her to represent it in numerous conferences around the world. . In 1980, she chaired the 7th congress of the Guadeloupe Communist Party. She was then elected deputy of Guadeloupe under the first legislature of the Fourth Republic. Member of the PCF group, she sat from November 10, 1946 to April 17, 1951. She was thus one of the first female MPs in Guadeloupe. She was also elected President of the Bar from 1967 to 1970. A museum is located at 25 rue Maurice-Marie-Claire in Basse-Terre. It is installed in the house where Gerty Archimedes lived until his death in 1980.
