La Caféière Beauséjour is a former coffee plantation situated on Chemin de Thomy, in the hamlet of Gros Morne, Pointe-Noire, on the leeward coast of Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe. The estate hosts cultural events open to the public: guided tours of the built heritage, exhibitions, concerts and meetings with artists from the Caribbean.
These events are organised by the La Caféière Beauséjour association, a non-profit organisation registered under the 1901 Act with the Guadeloupe Prefecture, whose aim is to promote culture, heritage and the arts, and to support local and Caribbean artists.
Access to the events is separate from accommodation: you do not need to be a guest at the guesthouse to take part.
European Heritage Days 2026: tour of the former Caféière Beauséjour coffee plantation
The Caféière Beauséjour will open its doors to the public on an exceptional basis to mark the 43rd edition of the European Heritage Days, on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026. The guided tour will focus on the history of the coffee plantation, its buildings and its surroundings. Admission is free, but booking is compulsory: a named ticket per person, regardless of age, must be collected online.
The 2026 European Heritage Days are centred on the themes "Photographic Heritage" and "Heritage at Risk: Revive, Resist, Reimagine", two themes to which the programme at La Caféière Beauséjour directly responds.
Photographic exhibition by Maria Nunes: the "mas à po" at the 2026 Guadeloupe Carnival

The exhibition on display at La Caféière Beauséjour during the 2026 European Heritage Days brings together eighteen photographs by Maria Nunes, a photographer and filmmaker from Trinidad and Tobago, who documents Caribbean cultural heritage. The images were taken during the 2026 Guadeloupe Carnival and all focus on the tradition of the "mas à po", also known as "gwoup à po": these "skin groups" parade to the beat of drums, without wind instruments or a sound system. Maria Nunes came to Guadeloupe specifically to research and photograph this tradition. The exhibition is organised in collaboration with the Creolitan Gallery and complemented by video screenings dedicated to other Caribbean carnivals, notably that of Trinidad, filmed by the artist herself.
The exhibition is included in the tour: it is accessible to visitors at the end of the guided tour, at no extra cost. The prints on display are available for purchase; the proceeds from sales go to the artist.
