The Zamana, also known as the Samana, is the heart and soul of our coffee plantation in Pointe-Noire, on Basse-Terre (Guadeloupe). This majestic rain tree has lent its name to our guesthouse and has featured on our logo since the very beginning. The Zamana at the Habitation Samana Beauséjour in Pointe-Noire, Guadeloupe
Our Zamana was planted in 1993. It is therefore 33 years old.
It is firmly rooted on the plateau of the morne. Despite its youth, our big baby already boasts impressive measurements:

It shades the old Caféière Beauséjour Coffee Plantation, the heart of our estate, just as the rain trees used to do in the coffee plantations of yesteryear.
An emblem turned logo: the original, often imitated, never equalled
The Zamana is the historic emblem of the Habitation Caféière Samana Beauséjour: it is our logo and inspired the very name of the establishment. Whilst other establishments in Guadeloupe have since adopted the name "Samana", the tree that represents us grows here, in Pointe-Noire, at the heart of our environmental commitment (Clef Verte, Esprit Parc National). You can discover our Zamana during a stay at the Habitation Caféière Samana Beauséjour, in Pointe-Noire, on the leeward coast of Basse-Terre. Our guests are free to enjoy its giant shade, just a few steps from the table d’hôtes and the ecolodges.
