THE ZAMANA or SAMANA

Zamana, or Samana is also called rain tree or Haitian black wood but formerly called Samanea saman.

This tree is native to South America and is part of the Fabaceae family. It is present throughout the neotropical zone where it was once used to shelter coffee plantations and provide shade for livestock.

The Samana (Zamana) can reach a height of 25m. It has an imposing, wide, parasol-like port with a diameter of up to 40m. In Thailand, in the army studs, in the Dan Makham Tia district, a specimen of impressive measurements: 18m high 61m in diameter!

The main peculiarity of this tree is its ability to fold its leaves at night and when it rains.

OUR ZAMANA - SAMANA

Our Zamana was planted in 1993. It is therefore 28 years old.

It is well anchored on the flat of the hill. Despite his youth, our big baby already has good measurements:

Height: 13m (42,65 ft)
Canopy diameter: 20m (65,61 ft)
Circumference of the trunk: 4m20 (165,35 in)
Diameter of the trunk: 2m67 (105,12 in)
