The Parc national de la Guadeloupe is an ideal area for hiking, but requires special attention to be paid to hiking conditions.

Route difficulty levels :

The hikes presented on this website have been selected according to their interest and level of difficulty (length and altitude difference). The latter are specified in each route description, and the search engine offers a choice of selection by difficulty. The four levels of difficulty are those created by the French Hiking Federation.

This level is :

  • Very easy (TF): less than 2 hours' walking. Ideal for families. On well-marked paths presenting no particular difficulties.

  • Easy (F): less than 3 hours' walking. Itineraries suitable for occasional hikers, active families and parent hikers with children in portage if need be. On paths with some less easy sections.

  • Medium (M): less than 4 hours' walking. For hikers used to walking. With occasional challenging sections and/or steep gradients.

  • Difficult (D): more than 4 hours' walking. For experienced and sporty hikers. The route is long and/or difficult (steep gradients, tricky passages, uneven terrain).

The times given for the routes are indicative. They take into account length and altitude differences, and have been calculated on the basis of an average hiker.
