In 1895, Henri Longueteau transformed the old sugar factory to produce AGRICOLE rum, a rum produced directly from the distillation of pure sugarcane juice. This rum is quite different from industrial rums, which are made from molasses.
Since then, four generations have succeeded one another on the estate. Today, the Longueteau distillery is the only distillery in Guadeloupe that is 100% self-sufficient in sugar cane. Sugar cane comes exclusively from the plantations of the Domaine du Marquisat de Sainte-Marie, located at the foot of the Soufrière massif.
