Its dome does not have a true crater, but rather eruptive vents, chasms and deep notches. An active volcano of the Pelean type, of relatively recent formation (around 100,000 years), its activity is manifested by numerous releases of steam, fumaroles, hot springs at different points on its flanks and its dome.
